Once a series of indirectly-compatible games with a discernible ‘old school’ sensibilities made it successfully across the minefield, NSR games and their creators were re-absorbed into the scene that had once sought to keep them at arms’ length. With the OSR no longer pushing quite so hard, NSR people a) stopped pulling away and b) went very quiet about the need to keep policing their social boundaries.
By the time Yochai Gal was getting hounded off of Bluesky for sharing a link to someone with truly depressing politics, the distinction between NSR and OSR was nothing but a historical footnote: If you were engaged with the NSR, you were engaged with the OSR… No daylight, kids.
